Skill Trade's resident DJ and producer, DJ Funky Fingers, has released a "Mash-up" mixtape, melding the music of Earth, Wind & Fire with verses from Tupac's catalog. Titled Universal Thug,  the mixtape celebrates the lives, legacies and music of Maurice White and Tupac Shakur. 

 

What makes this combination so unique is that not only does the music match with the verses, but in so many cases, the messages of the songs blended together are so similar.   The titles for some of the blends reflect the similarities of those messages, such as  "Keep Ya Head Up To the Sky," "Dear Mom" and "Smile On Your Face."  An Earth Wind & Fire fan since his youth, Funky Fingers  calls this "The mixtape I was born to make."
